Personnel

• To recruit and retain employees of the highest calibre
• To employ and train 1000 engineers, tradesmen and technical staff by the year 2010, the majority being of local origin.
• To recruit seasoned expatriate experts to bridge any short term skills gaps that occur with expansion and diversification. One of their major responsibilities will always be to transfer skills to local employees.
• To provide full training facilities both local and overseas, ultimately with the establishment of the Dorman Long Industrial Engineering Academy.

Commitment to the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry

• To continue to develop a full Nigerian engineering competitive capability in pressure vessels, process equipment, deep offshore and onshore and associated infrastructure.
• To retain at all times quality of products and service of international standard.
• Continue to develop a full local EPC capability to match that achieved in other countries.

Commitment to Local Communities

• Fully take into account the requirements, sensitivities and needs of local communities where the Group may be operating in the field.
• Where ever possible members of local communities are recruited and fully trained such that they can participate in local projects.

Development of a plant for manufacturing Products not currently available locally in Nigeria

• The opening of the major engineering quality Hot Dip Galvanising Plant opens the way to the local manufacture of many products that had previously had to be imported because of the lack of galvanising facilities. Dorman Long will capitalise on this opportunity by investment in the automated manufacture of standard products such as transmission and telecommunication towers, gratings, road barriers, etc..
